Credit Union Teller

Location: Fergus Federal Credit Union
Position Type: Full-time (40 hours/week)
Salary: Competitive hourly wage plus benefits

Fergus Federal Credit Union is seeking a reliable, customer-focused Teller to deliver efficient, accurate transaction processing and exceptional member service. The Teller is often the first and most frequent point of contact for members; this role supports branch operations, promotes credit union products, and helps maintain a safe, member-friendly environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Greet members promptly and courteously; provide professional, member-first service

  • Accurately process member transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, transfers, and cashing checks

  • Handle currency and coin, maintain cash drawer; balance drawer daily and prepare appropriate paperwork for cash variances

  • Open and close teller workstation according to procedures; follow dual-control cash handling and security guidelines

  • Verify member identification and follow all regulatory, compliance, and anti-money laundering (BSA/AML) procedures

  • Identify member needs and refer to appropriate staff for account openings, loans, online/mobile enrollment, and other services

  • Maintain accurate records, complete routine reports, and support branch administrative tasks as needed

  • Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and promote a positive workplace culture

  • Assist with drive-thru operations or special events as assigned

Qualifications Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Cash handling experience

  • Strong customer service skills with professional verbal and written communication

  • Basic math skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to follow procedures and maintain accuracy under moderate time pressure

  • Reliable attendance and punctuality

  • Ability to pass background check and any regulatory screenings

Physical requirements

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods

  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally (supplies, coin bags)

  • Manual dexterity for handling cash, coins, and performing routine computer tasks

Work schedule

  • Branch hours Monday–Friday; schedule may include early mornings or evenings depending on branch hours

  • Overtime or float coverage may be required during peak periods or staffing shortages
